We drove 17 miles into Denali National Park (which is far as you can drive your vehicle) and opted not take a tour into the park as we were scheduled for an early dinner show. The grounds at the lodge are peaceful as the Nenana River flows at the rear of the property and you can hear the rushing of it’s waters.
Last night we attended the “Music of Denali” Dinner Theatre where the talented cast of actors entertained and served us an endless amount of ribs, Alaskan salmon and fixings.
After some not-so-serious shopping we went back to the lodge so I could post on the blog however the internet was down. A gentleman was carrying his laptop by and I informed him of the situation with the internet and he sat down and talked to us. With his southern accent I just had to ask where he was from and he said Alabama. Since he was from the Bible belt I figured he was Southern Baptist and asked him if he was. He said he was not. He was a believer however and told us he invented “Scripture Mints.” I told him that we had them at Family Christian and I had seen them at LifeWay. He had an extra coupon for a 2 for 1 deal on a Summit McKinley Flightseeing Tour that he was not going to use so he offered it to us. We are scheduled to take the tour of “The Great One” Friday at 11:00.
This morning we ate breakfast at King Salmon and our waiter was from Naples! What a small world. Then I needed to pick up one more bowl from the Bowl Shop and lo and behold I ran into Linda and Bill Smith from Naples! She and her family will be checking into the McKinley Princess this evening as we are. What an even smaller world.
